Sharron Halpert brings over two decades of specialized expertise in passive fire protection and building performance. Since entering the industry in 1999, she has worked alongside every major U.S. firestop manufacturer and contributed to more than $23 billion in new construction globally.
At the core of building science is the understanding that a structure operates as an interconnected system. Sharron bridges the gap between design intent and field execution, ensuring that thermal barriers, air sealing, and compartmentation work together seamlessly without compromising life safety. Firestop isn't complex, but it is deeply technical—small installation variations can drastically alter a building’s fire, smoke, and air-tightness performance.
Sharron’s work ensures that life-safety systems are installed with the exactitude building science demands, replacing chance with deliberate quality assurance.
Recognized across the industry for her contagious passion, Sharron’s advisory and inspection work spans mega-resorts, aviation hubs, industrial and nuclear facilities, healthcare, high-rise residential, and complex modern retrofits across the U.S. and internationally.

Passive Fire Protection & Compartmentation: Over 20 years evaluating and inspecting complex wall, floor, and joint assemblies.
Building Envelope & Life-Safety Integration: Aligning firestop performance
Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC): Developing robust inspection protocols that prevent costly construction defects and field errors.
Risk Mitigation & Forensic Analysis: Serving as an expert witness in construction defect and fire-spread investigations.
Sharron has played a fundamental role in shaping the education and inspection standards used across North America today:
International Firestop Council (IFC): Authored the original examination used to evaluate firestop special inspectors.
International Code Council (ICC): Co-developed curriculum for the ICC Certificate of Learning Achievement to elevate foundational code knowledge for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
The SHIELD Protocol™: Creator of a Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act-designated protocol designed to mitigate building liability against terrorist attacks during design and construction.
