Renee Nguyen is a building performance practitioner, educator, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Co-Owner and CEO of Airelytics LLC in Lafayette, Louisiana. Her career connects healthcare and building science through a shared principle: understand the underlying cause before recommending a solution.

Before entering building science, Renee spent more than nine years working in nursing and healthcare. Her experience taught her to listen carefully, document conditions, recognize patterns, and look beyond the most visible symptoms. She now applies that same diagnostic mindset to homes.

When a homeowner reports high humidity, condensation, uncomfortable rooms, unusual odors, excessive HVAC runtime, or recurring moisture concerns, Renee evaluates the home as an interconnected system. She collects objective data and considers how the HVAC system, building enclosure, ventilation, moisture conditions, and pressure relationships may be working together.

In healthcare, you assess before you treat. In building science, you test before you recommend. Through quality control, you verify that the corrective work achieved its intended result.

Renee holds Building Performance Institute credentials as an Energy Auditor, Building Analyst Professional, Infiltration and Duct Leakage professional, and Quality Control Inspector. Her work includes whole-home energy assessments, enclosure and duct-leakage testing, pressure and airflow diagnostics, moisture investigations, quality assurance, and verification testing.

She has also served as an instructor for Change the Air Foundation’s HVAC+D educational series, using healthcare-based analogies to make HVAC and building performance easier for homeowners to understand. Airelytics has also supported access to field data used by Louisiana State University researchers studying airtightness and duct leakage in Louisiana homes.

For Renee, building science is about more than energy efficiency. It is about understanding the environment people live in every day and using measurable evidence to improve comfort, moisture control, indoor air quality, and long-term building performance.
