Indoor Air Quality Forensics Specialist

Mark E. Levy, CIEC

Building Scientist - Indoor Air Quality Forensics Specialist

For more than 25 years, Mark E. Levy has specialized in solving complex indoor environmental quality, moisture intrusion, and building science challenges through rigorous scientific investigation and multidisciplinary analysis. As a second-generation Indoor Environmental Professional (IEP), Mark has built his career at the intersection of building science, industrial hygiene, environmental diagnostics, and forensic investigation.

Raised in an engineering-focused environment, Mark began his career working alongside his father, Civil Engineer Harold William "Bill" Levy, conducting radon testing, environmental assessments, and pre-construction investigations. This early exposure to building science laid the foundation for a career dedicated to understanding how buildings affect occupant health and why environmental failures occur.

Seeking broader expertise, Mark joined HSA Engineers & Scientists, where he expanded his experience in building science, forensic investigations, and indoor air quality consulting. Since then, he has conducted thousands of investigations throughout Florida and across the United States, helping property owners, attorneys, insurance professionals, healthcare organizations, and commercial clients resolve complex environmental and building performance issues.

Mark E. Levy, CIEC

Today, Mark is recognized for delivering independent, third-party investigations that combine building science, industrial hygiene, microbiology, and environmental data into clear, defensible conclusions. His multidisciplinary approach enables clients to understand not only what has occurred within a building, but why it occurred and how it can be permanently corrected.

As an experienced expert witness, Mark regularly provides technical opinions involving mold, moisture intrusion, indoor air quality, and environmental contamination, supporting litigation with objective, evidence-based findings that withstand technical and legal scrutiny.
