Marcy Cleveland is a building science professional and clean energy project manager with experience in building performance and electrification. As Co-Owner and Director of Residential Energy Solutions at New Energy Project Management (NEPM), she helps clients assess needs and move projects from early planning and feasibility through implementation.
Marcy's strength is coordinating the technical, logistical, and human elements of complex projects, ensuring that client goals, site conditions, technology choices, and implementation requirements are considered together. Working with NEPM's technical team, she supports energy efficiency, air-source and geothermal heat pumps, solar, battery storage, EV charging, and related electrical infrastructure. NEPM's capabilities include technical analysis, project development, contractor and proposal evaluation, procurement support, project management, and owner's representation across residential, commercial, municipal, and nonprofit sectors.
Marcy's technical expertise is rooted in residential buildings and whole-building performance. She developed the A.W.E. (Assess, Weatherize, Electrify) framework as a straightforward approach to residential decarbonization, emphasizing assessment and building-envelope improvements before electrification. She holds Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) and Building Analyst Technician (BA-T) certifications, as well as BPI Total Building Performance and Cold Climate Heat Pump Assessor certificates, and is a U.S. Department of Energy Home Energy Score Assessor.
Before joining NEPM, Marcy founded Green Building Specialists, a residential energy assessment and building science consulting firm, and Hudson Valley Green Homes, a real estate practice specializing in sustainable and energy-efficient homes. Known as “The Hudson Valley's Green Realtor,” she combined her real estate work with consumer education on home energy use and efficiency, giving her a broader perspective on the relationship between property improvements, operating costs, comfort, and long-term ownership goals.
Marcy has written for Sustainable Hudson Valley's Clean Power Guide and has shared her expertise through industry conferences, presentations, webinars, and podcasts. She was a founding board member and later served as Acting Executive Director of Mid-Hudson Energy Transition. She currently volunteers on the Site Design and Construction Committee for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, advising on energy code, efficiency measures, and electrification strategies for new construction and renovation projects.
