Eric George is a building science and home performance consultant specializing in diagnosing complex problems involving home comfort, moisture, humidity, indoor air quality, HVAC performance, energy efficiency, and the building enclosure. With more than 20 years of experience in home performance and thousands of homes evaluated, Eric combines extensive field experience with diagnostic testing to identify the root causes of problems that are often difficult to diagnose through conventional inspections.

Eric's experience with buildings began in the 1990s working in his parents’ fire and water damage restoration business. In 2004, he ran a home insulation and weatherization company, gaining hands-on experience with the building enclosure and the practical challenges of improving older homes. In 2008, he founded Building Performance Group and shifted his focus toward doing third-party inspections and diagnostics for builders and homeowners. Since then, he has conducted thousands of HERS Ratings for new homes and energy audits on older homes.

His investigations often combine blower-door and pressure testing, infrared thermography, airflow measurements, HVAC and duct-system diagnostics, moisture and humidity analysis, and detailed evaluation of insulation and air barriers. This whole-house approach allows him to identify how seemingly unrelated issues can interact to create comfort, condensation, humidity, indoor air-quality, and durability problems.

Eric is a certified RESNET HERS Rater and has also held certifications as a BPI Building Analyst and Technician, National Comfort Institute (NCI) Residential System Performance Specialist, Duct System Optimization Specialist, and Residential Air Balancer. His training across both building-envelope and mechanical systems gives him a broad perspective on how buildings actually perform under real-world conditions.

In addition to consulting, Eric is the creator of the YouTube channel and podcast called Home Comfort Advisors, which teaches the fundamentals of building science and home performance in simple and practical ways that anyone can understand.
