Alex Meaney is a leading figure in the residential HVAC design and building science community. With over two decades of dedicated experience, Alex has spent his career bridging the gap between theoretical load calculations, practical system design, and real-world field application.
Alex began his journey in 2003 at Wrightsoft—the makers of the industry’s premier residential HVAC design software. Advancing from technical support to Lead Trainer, he spent nearly 20 years mastering Wrightsoft products, training practitioners, and developing a deep expertise in system design and building science. In early 2022, Alex launched Mean HVAC Consulting and Design to return to his roots: directly supporting and educating the HVAC contractor and building science community.
Throughout his career, Alex has taught over 700 classes across 48 states (including Alaska), logging more than 10,000 hours of instruction and educating over 10,000 design practitioners. Known for his collaborative approach, Alex emphasizes a continuous learning mindset centered on practical field feedback and listening to contractor experience.
